The Zimbabwe Football Association (ZIFA) has suspended five match officials after concluding that their officiating decisions materially affected the outcomes of league matches, citing breaches of the association's Referees Code of Conduct.

In a statement issued by the ZIFA Media and Communications Department, the association said the suspensions followed the consideration of reports submitted by match commissioners.

Assistant referee Phikisani Ndlovu was suspended for six Premier Soccer League matches, from Matchday 21 to Matchday 26, following the FC Platinum and Hunters FC fixture played at Mandava Stadium on June 27.

Referee Chamunorwa Tapiwa and assistant referee Christian Gumboze were each handed six-match suspensions covering Northern Region Soccer League fixtures from Matchday 17 to Matchday 22. The sanctions stem from the Harare FC and Zambezi G & C FC match played at Centenary Ground on June 21.

In the Southern Region Soccer League, referee Graduate Mubobo and assistant referee Praise Mkwevo were suspended for six matches, from Matchday 16 to Matchday 21, following a fixture officiated at Chinotimba Stadium on June 24.

ZIFA said the disciplinary action was taken after the officials were found to have made incorrect decisions that had a significant impact on the results of the affected matches. The association reaffirmed its commitment to maintaining high standards of officiating, integrity and accountability across all competitions under its jurisdiction.
