HARARE — Population Services Zimbabwe (PSZ) is expanding access to sexual and reproductive healthcare in Harare with the opening of a new clinic at Eastgate Mall, bringing family planning and other health services closer to people working and doing business in the city centre.
The new PSZ Eastgate Clinic is intended to provide convenient, client-centred healthcare to people who may struggle to visit far away health facilities during normal working hours. Deputy Minister of Health and Child Care Sleiman Kwidini, speaking at the official opening, acknowledged that the initiative will provide convenient access to healthcare for people who work and conduct business in the city centre.
PSZ recently announced the new facility as part of its efforts to make quality healthcare more accessible to communities in convenient locations. The organisation said the clinic will provide a range of sexual and reproductive health services, with an emphasis on confidential and professional care.
The opening comes as PSZ continues to expand its network of health facilities and other service-delivery channels across Zimbabwe. The organisation has operated in Zimbabwe since 1987 and provides family planning, sexual and reproductive health and general healthcare.
The Eastgate location is expected to particularly benefit people who spend most of their day in the central business district, including employees, traders and other members of the public who need healthcare services close to their workplaces.
PSZ's expansion has been supported by partnerships including assistance from the Embassy of Sweden, which has supported the organisation's efforts to improve access to affordable sexual and reproductive health services through clinics, outreach programmes.
