Hundreds of festival enthusiastic came together for the Mighty Zambezi Lager Bonfire Festival at Donnybrook this past Saturday. 

For one unforgettable winter night, Harare's Donnybrook Park became more than just an events venue. It became a place where fire warmed strangers into friends, music united generations and Zimbabweans rediscovered the magic of celebrating together under the stars.

After a four-year absence, the Mighty Zambezi Lager Bonfire Festival returned in spectacular fashion on Saturday. From the moment the gates opened, thousands of festival-goers streamed into the venue wrapped in jackets, scarves, blankets and camping chairs, ready to embrace the cold in the most Zimbabwean way possible—through great music, good company and the comforting glow of blazing fires.

As daylight faded, the atmosphere transformed, hundreds  fire buckets flickered across the festival grounds before Fire Marshals lit the event's iconic giant bonfire, sending flames dancing into the night sky. The towering blaze quickly became the heart of the festival, drawing crowds eager to soak up its warmth while capturing memories against one of Zimbabwe's most recognisable winter backdrops.

The soundtrack to the evening was equally unforgettable.

An impressive line-up featuring ExQ, Tamy Moyo, Takura, DJ Tino and the Djembe Monks among others kept the energy soaring into the night. Every performance brought something different, creating a seamless musical journey that moved effortlessly from soulful melodies to pulsating Afro-house beats and electrifying dance anthems.

Each artist contributed to a collective celebration that showcased the depth and diversity of Zimbabwe's music industry. “Definitely I loved them all no down moment felt, we danced through out with my friends” said Kundai Masawi on of the attendances at the event. 

Across the venue, carefully curated hospitality areas, bustling food courts, interactive gaming zones and fully stocked beverage outlets created an experience that appealed to every type of festival-goer. Families, young professionals, groups of friends and first-time attendees all found spaces to relax, connect and immerse themselves in the festivities.

The event demonstrated how entertainment continues to evolve in Zimbabwe, with audiences increasingly seeking experiences that combine live music, lifestyle, food and social interaction in one destination.

And after four years away, the flame is burning brighter than ever.
